Is it possible to subtract a genome with transcriptome? In other words- how might you see if an allele is from mother or father (specifically with hybrids)?
I would generate de-novo transcriptomes from pure breeds, then from hybrid, and use blastn as a primary means to make comparisons.
Would you consider go to other countries (ie Mexico) to give the course?
Sure, I would consider it.
Have you interacted with Armbrust Lab at UW?
Yes, primarily by means of technology, as their work is primarily microbial. Claire Olson- whose epipgenetics data I showed yesterday, was a technician in that lab before coming to my lab.
Normally every year I accept at least one student. A primary issue is always funding. more details here http://faculty.washington.edu/sr320/?p=596
