Discussion on technology used #4

Hello all,

As this website will be dynamic we had initial discussion on the web technologies that can be used.

Requirements:

Public pages:

  1. Home page - summary on Who we are, what do we do here, register.
  2. About page - describes about us.
  3. Events page - Upcoming events - JOSH, counseling etc.

After login pages:

  1. Showing list of registered users. Sortable batch wise.
  2. Profile page for each user.
  3. Everyone can edit their profile. (upload photo, tell what they are currently doing, optional social networking links)
  4. Website admin will have moderating features such as, a. Approving, rejecting new users. b. Creating new event

Language:

  1. PHP
  2. Ruby on Rails

Database: Mysql

Server: Amazon EC2

Any other suggestions with respect to requirements or Technology, please comment below.

I'm a Ruby on Rails developer, I can take responsibility for building these features with help of our folks. If any PHP developer want to take responsibility for building the website, you are most welcome. I will help in Front end development.

I saw the homepage image for the website shared by Chimman.. needs lot of work.. I can try sending a Photoshop illustration. Lets design for 1280x768 with responsiveness for higher resolutions.. I'll provide my photoshop sample by Saturday EOD... post reviews and finalization.. we can slice out and begin work..

Hi Srikanth,

Office work has been hectic couple of weeks. You guys can begin with the link you had provided me. The one on GitHub I suppose. Let work begin, we'll improvise later if necessary.
