Rings once on Nexus, but vibrate continues, calls answerable. #295

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Receive call (someone calls you)
2.
3.

What is the expected output?
Ringer to ring multiple times as call goes unanswered.

What do you see instead?
Rings once. Vibrate continues as it should, and calls can be answered, but the
ringer
only sounds once.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.3.5 beta on Google Nexus One on as released OS.

Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Slingshot iTalk, unknown.

Which type of network are you using?
Wifi

Please provide any additional information below.
Think it's directly related to Nexus as SipAgent has the same problem. Didn't
seem to
have issue on G1 but that was a few Sipdroid versions ago now.

Any other Nexus user having this issue?

Android 2.0.1.

Hmm. This is not happening for me on a Nexus One. Call comes in and it rings
repeatedly until I answer it or the call goes away.

This happens to me, too - rings once, does everything as it should, but won't
repeat
ringtone. N1, Sipdroid 1.3.5. beta

Same issuer here, Plays only once .
My quick fix is to make sure the ring tone is a long song so I can hear it ring.

I've tested this on PBXes, and the problem remains.

I've always had this problem on my Hero through each and every update of
Sipdroid.
Does not make a difference whether I use PBXes or connect directly to different
SIP
providers. Rings once, continues to vibrate.

This problem also occurs on my wife's G1 (Android 1.6). I don't think it used
to in the very early releases of
SipDroid. Would really like this fixed for my Nexus as well.

It happens to me too, the only thing to add is that after some seconds the
ringer
shifts from loudspeaker to internal earphone speaker; HTC Desire original ROM

Furthermore. If you press menu:end call, the phone continues to vibrate, which
doesn't stop even after quitting
sipdroid. That goodness for task managers that kill background processes.

I get almost the same issue on G1 with CyanogenMod 5.0.7 test2 (Android 2.1).

It vibrates but the ringtone doesn't play and the screen to pick up the call
never
shows.

It continues to vibrate even after the call has timed out/Gone to voicemail.

However I suffer from issue 192 like comments 17 and 18.

I tried connecting directly to Sipgate with Sipdroid and problem still exists.
Also I tried another sip client 3CX Phone and same thing is happening, one
ring. Callers say they hear multiple rings. A temporary fix would be to use a
long ringtone.

Sipdroid 1.5.7 on HTC Legend Software 2.05.161.1 (thats Android 2.1-update1)
The issue still exists with Sipdroid connected to PBXes.
One ring + vibration (as configured) and then the phone continues to vibrate
until the call ends.

This has been an issue for 10 months and still an issue? If the regular "bell"
telephone had this issue, the telephone would have never progressed. If
someone carses about the sipdroid project, I think this would be at the TOP of
the list, not "medium" priority. Let's get back to basics here. To use a
telephone, it must ring, you must be able to dial out, and once a call is
completed you must be able to speak and be heard at the other end and hear the
other party when they speak. All other features are secondary (including
video, multiple sip providers/etc). I've discontinued using sipdroid as a
result of this bug for now. I'm waiting to see if someone wants to see the
project be a viable solution again.

matt... (comment #29)

I agree that it's odd that this bug has been allowed to persist for so long.
However, there is a perfectly good work-around for the problem. Find or create
a ringtone that is as long as the maximum you would want the phone to ring for.
Once installed, when a call is received the phone will ring until the first of:
1) you pickup or hangup
2) caller hangs up
3) ringtone plays to entirety

So as long as the ringtone is long enough, you're good to go. FWIW, I'm using
this work-around with a ringtone created with ringroid.

I had the same issue and just figured out the problem. I upgraded to MIUI
Android 2.3.5 and it has a built in SIP client which I had configured without
realizing it was a full SIP client. I mistakenly thought I was just
configuring options on how android would interact with SIP client apps.

I had been using cSipSimple and it started putting my phone into silent mode on
incoming calls. I switched to sipdroid and it would ring once. Actually it
would continue to ring but on the ear speaker instead of the external one, so I
didn't hear it still ringing.

The fix was turning off the following setting "main
menu/settings/Programs/Calls/Other call settings/settings/Internet call
settings/Accounts/Receive incoming calls"

Now the phone rings properly with either sipdroid or cSipSimple.
