Sorry, I may not have the necessary context, but just wanted to mention that "faith" would seem to imply we know what the person believed, whereas in SBD we're probably dealing more with their perceived belonging to a religious group. Thus in my things I've steered clear of tei:faith. Possibly <state type="religious-affiliation">
would be even better than the current.
@nathangibson I like this suggestion. The TEI is a bit ambiguous about what it means by "faith". It includes the gloss "religion" which doesn't necessarily include "belief" but this might be a case where the more precise <state type="religious-affiliation">
is preferable. Thanks.
We will use <state type="religious-affiliation">
Timothy II of Alexandria (person/792) is listed as "Miaphysite" and Yuhanon Barbur (person/831) is listed as "Chalcedonian". These are more systems of belief (or "faiths") than they are "religious affiliations".
Do we want to continue using
<state type="confession">
or should we switch to the new tei:faith?
