merge & other errors in the instructions #126

There is evidence of a faulty merge, which needs to be fixed so that the instructions can be followed by a newbie. For example, see under the overview section, steps 1 & 2 then get repeated as steps 1 and 3.

In addition, I understand HTK is no longer needed, so the installation instructions may be outdated.
