Key decisions the manager wants to improve:

  1. How to increase the demand for ski lessons on your lodge?
    • Offer discounts to the guests of the lodge
    • Have different price schemes for children under 15 and adults
    • Offer seasonal passes for skiers who would come to ski often
  2. What is the minimum amount of snow required for the ski season to begin/continue/end?
    • Continuously monitor weather daily and forecast upcoming weather (next 2-4 days) to make operational decisions
    • Too cold weather -> Not good, Too warm weather -> Not good. Need to find the correct balance of weather for operating ski lessons
  3. Depending on the amount of snow, how to minimize the cost of using snow cannons?
  4. How to maximize the value of the ski instructors?
  5. What opportunities are there for off-season activities?

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) the manager is interested in:

  1. Total # of guest visitors in the lodge
  2. Total # of skiers registered for ski lessons
  3. Increase in profit from previous seasons:
    • Maximize revenue (increase # of skiers)
    • Minimize cost (skiing instructors, snow cannons, etc.)
