There is only one service needed in order to avoid this message: Apple Mobile
Device.
Application won't work if this service is not running.

The issue I have is that when I double click on the IPB icon it starts and then
I get
the message that it has encountered a problem and automatically closes. Using
Windows XP SP3 and IPB version 1.8.1. Worked fine for me for awhile and then
all of
a sudden the next time I go to log-in I get this error message. How do I fix
this or
what is causing this? I had the latest Itunes version 8.1 installed then
upgraded
to 8.2. Thought maybe this was the issue so I downgraded back to iTunes
version 8.1
and still same problem. HELP! Please! :)

I'm afraid iTunes 8.2 breaks iPhoneBrowser 18.1.0. If you can wait, a new
version of
iPhoneBrowser will be out shortly to correct this.
If you can't wait, I think you will need to google the procedure for a complete
uninstall of iTunes 8.2, then re-install 8.1.
Original comment by NetMage....@gmail.com
on 4 Jun 2009 at 10:58
Alternatives-
You can try two other programs to access iphone structure. Don't waste your time
reinstall 8.l because it is a hassle. It's not just downgrade it to 8.1, whole
bunch
of other files associated with Apple Mobile got updated as well. So don't
bother.
Try DiskAid, which is a free download that access iphone like IPB. Or, a
jailbreak
app. called 'Discover' via Cydia. But Discover only accesses the media folder
portion
not down to the Root level of iphone- this is good if you're just doing file
transfer
and doing Appulous stuff.

I've just downloaded v1.9
If I start the program without my iPhone plugged in it starts fine, as soon as
I plug
in my phone the program crashes.
I'm runing v1.9 on Windows 7. I have iTunes 8.2 installed but I have installed
it
without the Bonjour and Mobile Me service's because they were causing my
internet
connection to freeze.
I have tried running it in compatibility mode but no joys.

I'm having near similar issue like alex.patterson.

I was in the same issue and i try so many things ...
I have got the problem with all iTunes version and all iPhoneBrowser too.
I tried install one of each many times for all possible tests without result.
Downgrade is not a waste of time but DiskAid is a waste of money !
The solution was to install MS .NET 3.5 and one (or all) of this patch :
- NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
- NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe
- NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe
Try the patch before MS .NET 3.5 and let us know, i can't say which really
solve the
problem because i installed all in one time.
Finally, i can confirm :
- iPhoneBrowser 1.9 only works with iTunes 8.2
- iPhoneBrowser 1.8.1 only works with iTunes 8.1
So, i will use IPB 1.9 with iTunes 8.2 waiting Dev Team's work ;)

Crashing issue solved.
I first tried the 1.8.x version and it worked.
After upgrading iTunes, the iPhone browser started to crash.
Then I upgraded to 1.9.1 but it kept crashing, right after the program started.
Then I uninstalled the iPhone browser + deleted the folder from program files +
deleted the registry entries + reboot.
Then I reinstalled the 1.9.1 and it works fine with iTunes 8.2
