I have the same problems on my HTC One (unlocked and rooted), with the stock
(4.1.2) firmware (does not have the most recent Sprint OTA update, sorry, don't
have the exact version numbers).

Also tried "OMJ's Sprint ONE ROM | 1.29.651.10 | Deodexed | v1.5 | Updated
5/21/13"; same ad-hoc error.

Thanks

Hi everybody, I was having the same issue with this on my Droid4. I found a
ticket from about a year ago and implemented the suggested solution and it
worked. This is what it said:

Uninstall old version.
Install this one:
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wifi_tether_v3_2-beta1.apk
Go to app-settings and select "Generic ICS/JB (wlan1)" as device-profile.

Done.

Actually, I figured mine out last week. I had the new version when I sent
the earlier post. I found a video online that assisted. HTC One appears
to be the most finicky.

Set to: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)....(wlan1) does not work
Next change setup method to: Netd-Ndc (master)
Check Box: Send Netd Max Client Cr
Check Box: Enable WiFi-Encryption
Check Box: Enable Wifi- Driver Reload (on some phones, you also have to
Check Wifi-Drive Reload 2)
Check Box : MMS Clamping (enable)
Check Box: Routing Fix (enable)

Just rooted HTC One Sprint Phone, had trouble getting WiFi Tether to work.
However, this post corrected the problem for me.

Phone Hardware Version 0004
Phone Software Version 1.31.651.2
Android Version 4.1.2
HTC Sense Version 5.0
HTC SDK APL Level 5.12

I un-installed the latest beta, and reinstalled this version:

http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wifi_tether_v3_2-beta1.apk

Then changed settings as follows:

Set to: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)....(wlan1) does not work
Next change setup method to: Netd-Ndc (master)
Check Box: Send Netd Max Client Cr
Check Box: Enable WiFi-Encryption
Check Box: Enable Wifi- Driver Reload (on some phones, you also have to
Check Wifi-Drive Reload 2)
Check Box : MMS Clamping (enable)
Check Box: Routing Fix (enable)

Now it works for me. Special thanks to those posts before which outlined the
correct settings.

Mms clamping? Where do I find this option?! I've searched everywhere in the app
and I'm in able to find it!

Using wlan0 with adhoc mode, no encryption I am able to discover the network in
my laptop, with ad-hoc failure notice and no no Internet. Once I change to the
"correct" settings, my network is no longer shown on my laptop. However,
tethering begins "without error"

I have HTC ONE stock rom, rooted, with OTA 4.2

Using this version
https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/detail?name=wireless_tet
her_2_0_7.apk
Tether begins instantly without any tweaks. Laptop discovers network, connects,
and with no errors.
Still can't use Internet on laptop though, says it has Internet access but
nothing will load! So frustrating!
