Can only browse to Google, no other sites #868

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
HTC EVO 4G

Which firmware is installed?
2.1-update1

What version of wireless tether are you using?
2.0.7

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start tethering on phone
2. Connect with laptop
3. Try to browse to any website OTHER THAN Google

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should have full connectivity but can only get Google (or Gmail or 
code.google.com) to load

Please provide any additional information below.
I've used Wifi Tethering with my Evo for several months now without an issue, 
but three days ago suddenly I couldn't get any website to load other than 
Google. I use Chrome, so tried using Internet Explorer. Everything worked for 
about two minutes, then only Google again. I updated my wifi tether apk to the 
newest version. Everything worked again for two minutes. Now I'm back to only 
Google again. When I try to browse to any other site I get as far as "Waiting 
for ______.com..." but the site never loads.

Sorry, it was such a bizarre problem that I didn't check to see if anyone else 
had submitted similar issues. I see that several people have had the same 
problem over the past few days (actually I started having this problem on 2/26, 
the same day the first similar issue was submitted).

I'll add that turning off 4G has fixed the problem (for now). With 4G turned 
off I can get all sites to load.

I have the exact problem as well. Gmail, etc load. Any non-google site does 
not. Please help.

I got it working again by downloading 3.1 beta 6 and enabling MSS clamping and 
routing fix.

The only fix is to starting using 3.1 beta6 with MSS clamping turned on. Try 
using routing fix as well. 3.1 may not work on your rom, so try some different 
roms. But that is the fix!

I had the same problem on my Sprint Evo 3D when connected to 3G (not a problem 
on 4G), and it was only fixed by enabling "MSS clamping" and "Routing fix" on 
beta 9.
