Which device (manufacturer, type)?
HTC Evo Shift
Which firmware is installed?
2.2, running any rom available on XDA
What version of wireless tether are you using?
Tried 2.05, 2.06, 2.07, 3.0 pre11, wired tether 1.4
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Setup wifi tether as infrastructure or ad-hoc, or even wired tether for root
users
2.Access control, not access control, encryption, not encryption
3.No matter what, cannot get internet with 3g, but works great with 4g. On 3g,
can see data uploaded on phone display, but no downloaded data whatsoever.

Please provide any additional information below.
I've seen several people on XDA complain of this, so I know it is a common
problem with these devices. Auto device on wifi tether 3.0 gave only ad-hoc
mode (still no 3g), selecting evo shift gave infrastructure, but still no 3g,
only 4g.

I had been experiencing these exact issues, including while using the similar
wired tether for root users app, up until yesterday.

As of yesterday, I can no longer tether AT ALL. I'm also seeing these comments
flowing in on the xda boards.

I'm also on the HTC Evo Shift, rooted with stock ROM. Tried reflashing to no
avail.
