Reasoning for "silent" mode: I recently had a use case where I wanted to use the modem as a "dial in bridge", but didn't want it outputting connection results, as these would be interpreted as commands to the target operating system receiving the dial in connection.
Beyond that, this PR fixes auto answer and does some other cleanup
