Any particular 'reading list' is made up of several sections, and the last updated date for each section can (in theory) be different. It is easy to display a last updated date for each section, but this doesn't really work very well in the display. However, this 'last updated' date could be hidden for students so they didn't see it.
Each Reading List also has a time 'last updated' which is displayed at the bottom of the screen. At the moment this is only updated if you 'Edit' the reading list (i.e. do something like change the title etc.). However, I could set this to also update whenever someone clicks the 'refresh' button.
The former approach is more accurate in the sense that if you click the 'refresh button' and for some reason one or more sections in the reading list fails to refresh (and so continues to use the old cached version) the update times will be correct on each section.
The latter approach gives a single time of update for the whole list, but only reflects an attempt to refresh each section in the list - whether the update was successful or not.
Which do you think works better for what you want to display? Is this for students or for librarians/lecturers, or both?
This is really for librarians/lecturers and students so I think date of last update rather than last edit, regardless of which section of the list this is...
so I like the idea of "I could set this to also update whenever someone clicks the 'refresh' button" so we have "Each Reading List also has a time 'last updated' which is displayed at the bottom of the screen" - not caused by edit but by last refresh instead.
I think one last updated date at the bottom of the list, even if slightly inaccurate, far better than a date on each section...

Will be from last manual update as sticking with this procedure for now
