LTS on this module #9

How long do you plan to maintain this module?

@sergio-domingues OpenSource projects depend on their contributors - and things usually are not planned lots unlessed the projects gains interest. A good hint of a project's health is looking at the Insights that github provides. Since my pull request from March was not yet merged, I'd say this project seems to be EOL already 😢

I have no real incentive anymore to provide LTS for this module. This used to help me file my taxes when I was self employed, but I've stopped doing that. So I'm not actively monitoring rates anymore.

It's probably best that I put this repo in read-only soon. Another project by adamcooke jsonvat.com was discontinued for similar reasons. He explains the problem pretty well:

The work required to keep such a database up to date is too much for me to handle solo. It should be up to the European Union to provide this service rather than an individual like me.

I think the idea for free historic VAT rates is still good, but impossible for people like us going at it solo to provide LTS on.

So I'll close up this repo soon, with some final thoughts for anyone that might pick this up in the future.

First of all thanks @staaky for creating this project. I've been using it for a few years when I need VAT rates in a node script, and it's actually on my repository watchlist.

If you need help to help maintaining it, please let us know, I will be happy to help. Otherwise if you prefer to archive it, I will probably fork it the next time there is a rate change like the DE one this year.
