Related Issue(s):

Because https://github.com/stac-utils/pystac-client/pull/686 might change behavior for folks, we're calling this a "breaking" release (or "a large effort" per @TomAugspurger's effver link: https://github.com/stac-utils/pystac-client/pull/686#issuecomment-2112909923). We'll put an announcement up w/ the release notes to call folks attention to the change.
