It has been suggested that we implement some sort of end-game - where a faction "wins" by having a certain number of license components or control of a sector, etc. This would be primarily to:
keep it interesting for people who have acquired a ton of license points and have no way to use them because they're at caps
help recycle supply back into the system, just like #2.
If we were to do such a system, control of a "sector" could still be done in terms of CPs. In fact, I think some aggressive UpKeep in combination with many more CPs on the map would in itself introduce a "Sector-control" type of game. But it would have to be done carefully due to the problems we've seen with defense.
