IP Block on Forum account creation using Blockstack ID #2036

This is coming in from a user in support who has been sent a link to this issue to add to. I will add anything else in here that they send to support.

I get this issue when trying to register on my home PC. I live in the USA. [cid:81505577-CFE2-4463-A444-383BC8E54725-L0-001]

Hi Kevin,

If you go to browser.blockstack.org and sign in with your seed phrase. Then head to forum.blockstack.org and sign in with the same ID that you used (do note create new - choose sign in with Blockstack ID). Does this issue still come up?

Yes it does – I’ve used blockstack ID several times.I was actually able to log in on my iPhone but as soon as I try it on my computer then it does not work. I’ve used an IP lookup service to check that my IP4/6 address points to the US and it does. I have several IDs registered in blockstack – not sure if that is a problem

The strange thing is that I can log in to the forum using one of my blockstack IDs on my iPhone but when I do the same on my PC I get the above error.

Looks like you could have possibly been been rate limited from your IP address. Have you created multiple addresses from your IP address recently?

Not recently. I created my blockstack IDs several months back

The page displayed does not have anything to do with the Blockstack ID you are actually logging into the forum and not using blockstack. This is the box for logging into the forum directly without blockstack.

This is what you would see if you tried to log into the forum with a blockstack ID.

As you can see in the screenshot above when you use the blockstack option a pop up will display for you to enter your blockstack ID info, you should never enter it into the forum login fields.
