GRANT MISSION, IMPACT, RISKS & REFERENCE
Grant Mission:         Behind every community that scaled, you'll find a support system and resource bank that enabled growth while preserving quality. This initial project will create the infrastructure and playbooks needed to scale community-led Stacks hackathons around the world and ultimately drive adoption of the Stacks Ecosystem.
Other chains and crypto ecosystems have benefited from the power of community. Stacks obviously understands this, but has yet to trigger viral community-driven organic growth. Doing so will bring the world one step closer to a user-owned internet and create a stronger moat around the Stack ecosystem to ensure it survives downcycles and thrives in upcycles.
When run well, hackathons can be an excellent way to drive adoption of a new technology. If we succeed, passionate volunteers will be running dozens or hundreds of hackathons in cities around the world that bring people together to connect, learn and create. Some projects created at this events may very well succeed on their own. Other participants will launch new projects after the event, leveraging new skills and relationships obtained during the event.
If successful, a follow-on grant or residency will be sought to (a) run an initial wave of hackathons in key cities in order to start the flywheel, (b) provide event organizers with ongoing support, and (c) improve the systems and customize the playbooks to better serve the Stacks community.
Grant Impact:               - Completeness of playbooks (word count, # downloadable templates, etc)
hackathons planned
organizers signed up
developers attending hackathons
projects built at hackathons
Grant Risks:                          I don't anticipate any technical challenges. The difficult part will be connecting quickly to Stacks team members, partners and community members. To overcome this, I will use a dash of hustle and a pinch of support from the Stacks team to make key introductions.
Support Link:                                     Slides 2: Specific Deliverables, by Milestone Slides 4-5: Visualization of the different paths attendees might take through the Stacks community Slides 7-12: What a Phase 2 (after the scope of this grant is complete) might look like in which we run a initial series of hackathons
