GRANT MISSION, IMPACT, RISKS & REFERENCE

Grant Mission:         We have been working on these tools for the last six months and have working versions of them in The Guests and Nonnish. The tools allow off-chain tokens to be generated against NFT ownership and then various usages are provided, from raffles, to sales and discord based games.

It is essentially a way to allow a project to provide utility to NFT owners without the constraints provided by an on-chain token. The Guests and Nonnish both use the token to allow holders to buy new NFT sets using the token and also enter raffles for art, whitelists etc.

The tool's UI is an all in one discord solution, including stacks wallet verification, NFT holdings based discord roles, welcome messages, visual commands etc. The idea is that you will only need one bot to run the NFT based functionality in your server.

We have had a lot of interest from other projects in the Stacks community and believe it would be a useful tool across all chains, but with stacks being our home, we want to make a low priced lifetime license available to any stacks project.

We would love to just help all the projects that ask us to implement this but we don't have the time around other commitments. A grant would give us the breathing room to take some time out and get this up and running, without having to charge large subscription fees to Stacks projects. It is important to us as creators that a solution like this is affordable for creators of all sizes to benefit from, so they can focus their energy on building

Grant Impact:               The adoption of our tools across Stacks project Discord servers, with holders of the NFTs from these projects feeling that they gained from the interactions with our tools.

Grant Risks:                          We feel that there is no risk in our ability to complete this grant as we have proved the concept works we just need time to be able to deliver without charging high fees. There is also no single point of failure, multiple team members could complete the project.

Support Link:                                     This document contains some testimonials from a couple of community members, social media shoutouts for our team, and some links to the projects currently using out technology.

GRANT ROADMAP & DELIVERABLES

MILESTONE 1:

Deliverable:                   Generic version of the utility tools currently used in The Guests and Nonnish

MILESTONE 2:

Deliverable:                   On-board trial client to the generic tooling, with customisations made for them

FINAL DELIVERABLE

Deliverable:                   Web UI for Stacks project creators to configure their own utility tools

Very interesting project and as someone who created and lead an NFT project I have to say that this sounds like it is exactly what I have searched for when I started our NFT project. Especially the off-chain rewards are something that is missing and more collections should adopt as incentives. This tool would help to create larger incentives for NFT projects on Stacks.

Hello @csykesdev

Thank you for the application and for your patience with the grant review process. We did a thorough review of all of the applications (each application received an average of 6 reviews from members of the Grants Review Committee).  However, after much consideration, we decided not to fund any of the Cohort 19 grant applications as we did not feel they aligned with critical priorities core to the development of the Stacks blockchain.

We invite you to please read this blog post we authored to help elaborate on the reasoning behind this decision and clarify the current mission of the Grants Program.

Thanks in advance, Will Stacks Foundation Grants Program Manager

I think it is a real shame that the critical priorities of the foundation do not bring in more users and have reasons to retain them on the platform, NFTs account for approximately 70% of Stacks volume, yet with the current market conditions, it is nearly impossible for people to launch and develop a serious project on the platform that can have any hope of maintaining and building a community. My project The Guests is one of the very few projects that has been consistently profitable to holders and has been able to build a community in this market, up 1200% percent in the last 6 months and that is down solely to the tooling we have built and wish to provide to other creators in this space so they can remove most if not all development costs and be able to sustain in this climate and have a chance at retaining an audience

People are passionate about stacks, they have to be because anything launched in the last 7 months on stacks has no hope of being self-sufficient, we are all doing this out of passion. For a project on Stacks to be self-sufficient and pay even a single person a living wage, you would need to raise somewhere in the neighborhood of 20000 STX a month, that is the current state of things, our goal was to allow so many more creators, to be able to operate as a smaller team, having everything they need to build here, bringing in both creators and users and building the foundation of the userbase needed to support apps you care about and fund

So many people are sacrificing so much to build this thing we are all a part of and the message being received is that it isn't valued
