Typically, we don't change punctuation in this manner. We try to respect the punctuation in the original printing. If you can find a different edition that has this change, then we can reconsider it.
The Bantam Classic 1981 edition has this change. But most editions preserve the original punctuation, and I think it's fine if you want to do the same.
OK, I found the change in a 1922 edition to, so we'll accept it. Thanks!
Change "What do you think, I saw?" to "What do you think I saw?"
While the comma was used in the original printing, I believe that modernizing the punctuation makes the sentence significantly more readable.
