Android app cannot connect to windows 10 home server #3678

I am trying to use the new home server feature in the windows app. I am using tailscale to connect my devices: one windows 10 machine (server), one Windows 11 machine (client) and one pixel 6 phone (client) . I can connect to the server as a client from the standard notes app on the other windows device, however my android based pixel cannot connect to the server, giving me the "failure to fetch" error shown in the attached. On the same android device I can access the server up language in Chrome. When I copy that same ip address into the custom server field (using http or https), I get the failure to fetch error, leading me to believe the issue is with the app, not the network. Any ideas?

If your Android app can't connect to your Windows 10 home server and you're getting a "failure to fetch" error, even though you can access the server through Chrome on the same device, here are a few simple solutions you might try:

Check the URL Format: Ensure that the URL you're entering into the app is correct. Double-check for typos and make sure you’re using the proper format (http:// or https://). Sometimes, the app might be sensitive to trailing slashes or incorrect formatting.

Verify Port Settings: Ensure that the correct port is specified in the URL if your server uses a specific port (e.g., http://:). Some apps require the port number to be included in the URL.

Update the App: Make sure that the app on your Pixel 6 is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer updates that might resolve connectivity issues.

Clear App Cache: Go to your phone’s settings, find the app, and clear its cache. Sometimes, old or corrupted cache data can cause connection problems.

Reconfigure Tailscale: Check your Tailscale settings and make sure there are no specific rules or restrictions that might be affecting the Android app’s ability to connect. You might want to restart the Tailscale service on both the server and the client devices.

Firewall and Security Settings: Verify that there are no firewall or security settings on your Windows 10 server that might be blocking the connection from the Android app. Sometimes, additional security settings or software might interfere.

Use a Different Connection: Try connecting your Pixel 6 to a different network (like a different Wi-Fi or mobile data) to rule out any network-specific issues.

Check for App Permissions: Ensure that the app has the necessary permissions to access the network on your Android device.

If none of these solutions work, it could be beneficial to contact Impressico Business Solutions for specialized support. They can offer tailored assistance to resolve connectivity issues and ensure that your setup functions seamlessly across all devices.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the connectivity issue with your Android app and Windows 10 home server.

I have reached the same conclusion. Windows 10 Pro (computer A) with Standard Notes Home Server function enabled. Tailscale network fully functional. Standard notes on a second Computer B (different LAN) can connect to computer A via Tailscale. Google Pixel (device C) connected via Tailscale:
