Is the ability to display a message on a board enough to incentivize people to use this system to donate? Would this limit our userbase to people who come to Starfish? Would it be better to have a twitterbot?

yep, you are right, I don't think that would incentivize people to use this system, yep I agree with twitterbot for testing out.
