Viglink errors #96

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Visit any site with this extension enabled.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: no errors
Real output: Failed to load resource http://cdn.viglink.com/api/vglnk.js

This is especially annoying as a developer as I end up having to check every
page I visit to make sure it's not an actual error with the site.

In the options for the extension you link to "opt out of viglink"- how about
you add a checkbox that says "stop injecting annoying, broken ads into every
site I visit" instead? Opting out of viglink fixes nothing- however actually
being able to disable the injection of the vglnk.js would be ideal. Lots of
people, myself included, also use adblock software- which causes problems.

Problem fixed by blanking
C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\{CHROME
USERNAME}\Extensions\{EXTENSION FOLDER}\2.1.10_0\js\vglnk.js

Agree 100%

I actually just got off the phone with VigLink and they said that their service
is not authorized to be used like ExifViewer was using it. VigLink suspended
the account for ExifViewer in VL's affiliate program and VigLink shut down all
the instances in which ExifViewer was fraudulently displaying links. Perhaps
developing a free browser extension isn't the most lucrative business plan ever
but attempting to deceive those of us who have downloaded the plugin isn't the
way to go about it. I'll be uninstalling the plugin immediately.
