Cancan hasn't been touched in a long time. The community has forked the gem to a new project entitled cancancan. https://github.com/CanCanCommunity/cancancan

Agreed that cancancan is the way to go. Anyone have time to work on this and submit a pull request?

I won't be able to get to it for awhile.

CanCan has been replaced with CanCanCan
