Inconsistent language usage #17

Open Joegoslavie opened 2 years ago

Joegoslavie commented 2 years ago

I recently encountered the following page: https://stasemsoft.github.io/softwarematerial/docs/basic/methoden/training_methodmarathon and I strongly disagree with the content, the language use (en, nl) is inconsistent, the first few 'assignments' ask the students to write function names in English and then the parameter of this function is defined in Dutch. This occurs multiple times and even switches a few times. The use of roman numerals is also confusing and harder to reference back to (why not just use numbers?)

Even for start semester students, learning to write code in dutch should be discouraged since this does not match the real world at all or the company in question is very, very, old-fashion. I also don't see the purpose of the quotes, it doesn't really help the student.

Kind regards, Hugo

Dear Hugo, Thanks for your feedback! I partly agree with you: in general we should not mix EN and NL: be consistent within one piece of text. These texts come from different sources, were put together. Everyone can create a pull request to improve. When a teacher looks to improve a text they try to improve this also. So ... in time ... (yes, that can take a long time...) it will get better. Please feel free to create a pull request to suggest specific improvements!
