Hello teammates! @eamutaigwe @Sudhaubc @maira1220
My name is Eve Chen, and I'm a second-year M.Sc. student in Bioinformatics at UBC.
My background is in Biology, but I have been dabbling in data analysis and coding since I started my graduate study here. I'm currently in Dr. Ryan Brinkman's lab. My research project is focused on developing and applying bioinformatic approaches to analyze flow cytometry data and advance understanding of human health and disease.
When I am not working, I love hiking ⛰️ , reading 📖 , and singing karaoke 🎤 with my friends.
Excited to learn and work with you all this semester!

Hi Eve! @eve-chen97
Nice to meet you! Your project sounds really interesting! I have been told that Canada is amazing for hiking; which is your favorite spot? I hope we can do some hiking soon. 😄

Thank you Maira! Yes, there are many nice spots here for hiking. I haven't been to many places but my current favourites would be Wedgemount Lake and Needle Peak as they have magnificent views. It's getting cold and rainy, but we can still enjoy some wintry hikes and trails if we prepare well.
Hi @eve-chen97!
I'm super excited to meet you  It is awesome to learn that someone I'm collaborating with is studying Bioinformatics. That is one area I am passionate about. Hopefully, I would have the privilege to ask you further questions about some areas of bioinformatics I would like to delve into.
We'll talk more soon.
Cheers, Ekpereka
Hi @eve-chen97 !
I am happy to know that you come from a biology background and are currently getting into bioinformatics. It's a great opportunity! These days so many clinical data and genomic data is analyzed in health sciences and it has led to very good insights! I am sure you will do a great job.
I got into hiking when I came to Vancouver and absolutely love it. Sadly, summer is over. But I would love to chat with you about it sometime 😊
