Hi @eamutaigwe!
It was so nice to meet you today! I did my Masters in Microbiology as well ( a few years back 😁) Your project sounds very exciting. Happy to know that you are an avid reader as well. I am into reading too. Would definitely recommend checking out the Vancouver Public Library, Central Branch. It's really good.
Talk to you soon!
Sudha
Hi Ekpereka,
I'm so glad to know that you are in GSAT now and started to use Bioinformatics tools with your research. I'm sure you would do amazing in the field with your background and motivations for your project.
I'm also in Terry Fox Lab and my work table was right on the upper floor of the Hoodless lab when I was still working in person in BC cancer before the pandemic (haven't been there for 1.5 years 😢 ). I feel lucky that I can still meet you through this class. Hopefully we can talk in person someday. We should definitely chat more about music, books and hidden fun in the city.
Cheers, Eve
Hi Ekpereka!
I'm really glad to know you, as I mentioned in my presentation I'm really into Microbiology.
Hopefully, we can meet in person soon. Now I'm doing my quarantine (I just arrived from Mexico) but as soon as I'm done I'm planning to go to the class in person.
Where do you come from? I'm more than glad to hear that you like to expand your network, now you have a Mexican friend :)
Best,
Maira
Hi @eve-chen97, @Sudhaubc, and @maira1220,
My name is Ekpereka Amutaigwe and I joined the Genome Science and Technology program this year for my MSc.
I earned BSc and MSc degrees in General Microbiology and Medical Microbiology, respectively, some years ago. But recently, I decided to explore in greater depth some areas of genomics and bioinformatics.
For my research, I joined the Hoodless lab where I study the Hippo pathway and its role in regulating genes implicated in liver cancer.
When I'm not in the lab or the lecture hall, I'm most likely to be in my room reading :book: or singing :microphone: , although I plan to actively grow my network :cold_sweat: starting with my precious teammates!
Cheers, Ekpereka
