Hi! I'm Heather, a new MSc Oceanography student working in the Pakhomov lab. I have dual Canadian and US citizenship. I moved here from Washington state where I spent the last five years working for the Natural Resources Department of a Native American Tribal government. I completed my undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at McGill University in 2017.

My research will be focused on studying the life history and circumpolar distribution of a marine zooplankton (hyperiid amphiphod) that lives in the Southern Ocean, as well as examining possible environmental drivers of morphological differences within the species

My work for the NR department was mostly marine research and monitoring, with a focus on salmon, but also included fisheries management & policy, community development projects to support Tribal fishermen, and a lot of grant writing
