Hey, everyone! I'm Carley. I was born and raised in Vancouver. I completed my undergraduate degree at UBC, majored in Biology. I spent a few years working in wide range of fields, but my interests led me to stay at an environmental toxicology lab. I recently joined the Schulte lab where I am studying the implications road salt may have on the development of salmon.

Hi Carley! What species and developmental stages of salmon is your research focused on?

Hello Carley! What methods are you using for your research?

Hi Carley! What species and developmental stages of salmon is your research focused on?

We will be working with Chum and Coho, and looking at stages from fertilization to when they are fry!

Hello Carley! What methods are you using for your research?

We are using a few! As of now, we have a half-series salt dilution in an attempt to see which sodium concentrations are most toxic/sublethal.

Hi! Could you share any interesting findings you've had until now in your research?

Hi! Could you share any interesting findings you've had until now in your research?

So far, we have observed lethal effects of salt concentrations lower than what is occurring in local freshwater streams.
