Try this.

3) Select Options->Settings

4) Change Software Installation from Signed Only to "All"

That is my default setup and I double checked it - still not working.
One additional thing that I notice: when I choose place to install (phone/card)
it
claims that size would be 242kB and then it downloads 119 kB and fails the
installation. Maybe this would be the reson?

I managed to install it downloading jar file directy from "Downloads page", so
the
issue seems to be conencted with http://gcalsync.mobi or jad file.
Jad file dowoaded from http://gcalsync.mobi seems to have different ecoding.

German: Jad- und Jar- Attribute stimmen nicht überein!
translated to english: Jad and Jar attributes do not match!

Installation worked when installing directly with this download-link:
http://gcalsync2-0.googlecode.com/files/GCalSync2_0_1.jar

german: Unbearbeitete Ausnahme. Programm schließen? Ja/Nein
translated: Unhandeled Exception. Close program? Yes/no

Trying to install v 2.0.3 on a Nokia N70, it still says "Can't install. Not
valid
file". Installation options on my phone are well configured.
