improving developer documentation for core for DIBBS

Feature description

We want to improve documentation First page of documentation is requirements. We really need ot link to the background stuff. @bradford's idea is that chado is weaklink. IE good programmers who dont understand the biology.

• general chado documentation? Maybe we need to link to it in tripal handbook?
  • warning: the wiki has lots of confusing/contradictory pages

general categories of people:

• programmers, no drupal/chado/biology
  • warning: you cant google your problems! you need to work through the handbook!
  • we are too small for stack overflow
• drupal experts, no chado/biology
  • pointing to best chado is best solution
• biologists, no drupal
  • intensive training videos and/or documentation on module creation is best bet.
• Tripal core is mystery to everyone

Requirements In order to use the Tripal API the developer should have the following skills:

Common skills:

Knowledge of PHP. Knowledge of relational databases and SQL. To create custom modules:

Familiarity with Drupal API Familiarity with Drupal module development To use Chado for data storage:

Knowledge of Chado and relationships between tables (at least tables where data of interest is stored). An idea how data is stored in Chado (or a willingness to ask questions)
