How do you send messages with it or do anything with it?

Its purpose is to just start the node. Geth node can provide various interfaces like HTTP and unix sockets. For example, a netcat can be used to connect to a unix socket and communicate using exposed interfaces.

I will add an entry in README.md describing it.
