Cannot login with TouchID on Mac #15771

Bug Report

Description

During login process on mac, OS modal appear prompting to either use Touch ID or password to login to Status app. Screenshot 2024-07-24 at 15 45 58

And neither Touch ID nor password result in Status logging into current account

Steps to reproduce

  1. Double-click on Status.app and wait for OS prompting to use Touch ID or password
  2. Use Touch ID (or password) in order to approve login.
  3. Observe the below state: Status app in "Waiting for Touch ID..." stays until user clicks on "Use password instead" and proceeds with regular login

Expected behavior

Status app getting either logged in by touch id, or getting an error and prompting user to enter password like on other OSes

Actual behavior

Status app stuck in "Waiting for TouchID"

I wasn't able to reproduce :(

@Seitseman can you please clarify some things?

  1. Can you please: go to Settings -> Password, turn on/off the Enable biometrics switch, restart and try again? (maybe even try to switch it off, restart, then switch back on and restart again)

  2. Did you create a new account on this version? If you migrated this account from an old version, what version was it?

  3. Is this account paired to any other device?

This issue wasn't reproducible for me for a long time. Please feel free to reopen if you face it.
