The VISAN worldmap plot currently only shows shorelines from the GSHHS dataset, but there is a demand for showing political borders as well.

The updated version of the GSHHS dataset, GSHHG, apparently also includes national boundaries. Updating VISAN to support this new dataset will thus likely be the easiest way to introduce this feature.
