Timer stops on Nexus S when it goes into sleep mode #47

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Manually put phone into sleep mode using the power button
OR
1. Letting the phone go into sleep mode automatically after ~1 minute of 
inactivity.

Note: Phone isn't turned off completly. Just in normal sleep mode. Battery 
charge is > 75%.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expeting time to keep running while phone is in sleep mode (like its the case 
with similar timers like Alarm Clock Xtreme)
Instead timer stops as soon as phone goes into sleep mode.

Please include the following info:
Phone model? Nexus S
Android Version? 2.3.4
ROM? Basic ROM / not rooted.

Please provide any additional information below.
Apps which *might* interfere (although they do not with my normal alarm clock 
app):
Widgetlocker (custom lock screen)
Juice Defender Ultimate (various power saving options)
