Which hardware are you using?
Good question, but I have a feeling my GPU isn't supported, as it's an older radeon and even my main PC has a 7950, which isn't supported (I was trying the build on my older PC). On Mar 21, 2015 6:52 PM, "Wouter Wijsman" notifications@github.com wrote:

The install shouldn't grab remote packages during the debian-installer phase, but an ethernet connection is absolutely mandatory for the Steam installing phase, and it'll all crash & burn there.
To know what isn't installing, we'll need to know where specifically it's failing - switch to a terminal with ctrl-alt-f2, take a look at syslog, and attach a photo of the first package install failure
I am also experiencing this issue. Here's the syslog output:

If it's relevant and needs be, I have the entire syslog file here to attach. (FWIW, I just used the shell to copy /var/log/syslog to /target/root/ and then accessed that with the ExtFS driver for Windows.)
Those logs are gold. Inexplicable, but something I can work from.
I can find my motherboard make & model if I open 'er up, let me know if that's relevant.
SteamOSDVD.iso
image checks out fine.dd
and unetbootin
to write the image to USB.StephensonsRocket159plus1.iso
torrent to finish downloading. I have slow internet at home, so it might take a day or so.Let me know if there's anything else I might try.
Also if relevant: The syslog contains a total of 1368 <package> already installed, skipping
error messages from dpkg
.
UPDATE: The StephensonsRocket159plus1.iso
version installed perfectly. Will redo the other brokeninstallation if necessary for testing.
I cloned this repo and generated an iso with gen.sh and got the same messages as above. I followed in ArnoB's footsteps and tried StephensonsRocket159plus1.iso, which worked!
Seems to have been fixed some versions ago
I'm getting this error haflway through doing a fresh install via USB.
Not sure how to proceed from here.
FWIW: I'm installing on a PC with no ethernet connection (right now), not sure if the installer tries to grab any remote packages or not.
