Please mention one of the arguments contra IP/TP, e.g. VP-topicalization:
[Gewartet auf sie] hat er nicht
*dass er nicht gewartet auf sie hat
There is new work by Murphy (2021), who tries to argue for the ‘classic’ rightward movement analysis (right-headed IP). His arguments are note convincing as I remember them. If I remember correctly, he has nothing to say about the following cases: interveners between VP and IP get really bad as soons as there are more verbs in the verbal complex:
dass sie hätte warten (auf mich) sollen
dass sie wohl warten können (auf mich) wird
Murphy, Andrew (2021): Rightward verb movement: A reappraisal. In Journal of Comparative Germanic Linguistics 24: 319–376.
