With my previous companies we dealt with a lot of price sheets in excel that needed to be distributed to our dealers. They were in excel and very messy to lock to keep them from being manipulated. Using a PDF file is great because it is a flat file but with the OCR it can be searched especially when you are dealing with upwards of 5000 products. It also is very sensitive information so it being secured is a big deal. By including the pricing and also the instructions, minimum advertised rules, net terms, etc... in one file it is very helpful to send out and distribute vs. sending multiple different file formats.
Thanks for this awesome comment. It seems that you're working in a very productive organization that values one, meetings and two, efficiency. It would be fun to propose new ways to use acrobat to push their productivity.

Given your new understanding of the portfolio in Acrobat (after this week's learning), how would you recommend that your company adopt this new skill of yours?
At our weekly meetings, we commonly share Tips and Tricks that can be helpful to the rest of the department. I would recommend my company to use the OCR capability to recognize the text in a PDF for the Find feature. This is extremely helpful when a spreadsheet has been converted into a PDF but we need to find a specific set of numbers.
How would the portfolio be helpful to your organization?
At my company, it's important to be efficient, and so essentially we need to eliminate the redundancy in creating several types of files, and attaching them all into a email. As I've learned in this past week's exercises, I can combine a spreadsheet, word document, and or a html into a single PDF portfolio. In doing so, I can also compress the file to a smaller size and attach it all into an email.

Heather, great point here. Given the ability to password protect a PDF file, it seems smart to send a password-protected file to various members of your company, in different locations. This may help them to synchronize pricing.

Portfolios are a great tool to be able to combine different file types into one single pdf. I have to agree with the rest of the class the OCR feature really make it easy when looking for information. The portfolio would be useful in my organization when organizing all required documentation for one single subject. We have many different types of documents that we need to complete for one single purpose. Portfolios would give us the opportunity to organize them all into one single document.
