Still nothing for the moment. We are struggling to compile WebKitGtk under a
MinGW
environment, but we couldn't do it yet. :(

Maybe you should try cross compiling? This guy
http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/8n6j8/pidginwebkit/c09u6zj
suggested that
last time I was trying to compile the Webkit message styles plugin for Windows.

We are trying this right now, but there are so many issues that we move forward
really
slow. Is there any simple set of commands to do it from a webkit release
without
setting by hand so many variables? Did you succeed to compile it in the end?

Still no significant progress on it. And I can't even find someone who compiled
WebKit/GTK+ on Windows.

Try looking in Midori[1]. The Windows build may be a bit dusty, only having
libwebkit-1.0-2, but it does work.

Could you possibly yank the webkit guts out of something that is already
successfully
built on windows? Another browser perhaps?

yeah, a Windows port would be quite cool to get a bunch of new Pidgin users!
as well as making it work for pictures too.
