[Bug] Help-bubbles shadow won't go away, randomly #138

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. keep using IE10+ and/or Windows Live Mail 2011 with AltDrag for some
hours/days

What version of AltDrag are you using? On what operating system?
1.0 Win7 x64

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm still investigating this issue (there is no reproducible pattern), but I
have some suspects that AltDrag is the cause of randomly persistent
help-bubble's shadow left when using IE10+... It looks like help-bubble shadow
effect won't go away and stay overplayed on the scren unless I completely
kill/close IE. I thought it could be caused by the new Inactive scrolling
routines after last modify to make underlying scrollbar (in case) work. I'm
sure I couldn't see this happen with old AltDrag version.
I'm still not 100% sure, and I'm testing for some days if I still can reproduce
the issue WITHOUT AltDrag running and today, for an entire day didn't happen
again...
I'll keep you updated after some testing for another pair of days without
AltDrag and then with AltDrag again....
Stefan, do you need a screenshot to better understand the issue?

One new thing in 1.0 is that AltDrag is removing tooltips if you Alt+Click on
them (or scroll on them), so you get the underlying window instead of the
tooltip. This might be the cause of the problem. Maybe the shadow is a separate
window.

In the mean time, I think you can disable tooltip shadows in Windows. Try that
and see if it helps.

Have to renounce to all windows shadows... :( Ok, will test and report tomorrow
if this way doesn't happen, waiting for a fix... ;)

I can confirm after half a day that with disabled windows shadows in Windows7 I
can't reproduce the issue, with AltDrag still running.
Is there an old/beta version without the new workaround in 1.0 for the
tooltips? Testing a version with this function disabled/not implemented I could
verify 100% if it's actually an AltDrag 1.0 side-effect bug related to tooltips
handling.

Yes. Just go to Downloads and select 'All downloads'.

Quick test on National Geographic homepage showed 1.0b3 was immune, the bug
started with 1.0rc...

I haven't used Windows in almost three months now. I will work on this when the
opportunity comes.
