U2F to Stellar Key Pair (Research)

Introduction

There seems to be an interesting area to explore with U2F Fido protocol and possible ways (if any) to derive seed that could be used to generate Stellar Private/Public key pair. This would open up a yet another way of secure transaction signing. It would allow for less expensive user on-boarding as the current crypto-currency wallets are just too expensive for an average user and seem to be going up in price.

Research

It would be great if anyone could contribute and find out if this is even possible, or if perhaps this question could have been asked on stack exchange / reddit and maybe the answer is simple but we don't know at this point and are limited on resources and time with current work-load. If some kind of practical solution is available we could look into providing / programming affordable devices for the user base.
