I have made several minor edits to fix the linter.

Using now ruff linter (faster, common in other projects like cvxpy)
There are still several problems, repetitions, possible bugs with the code. I will create other github issues.
Test still do not pass for some reason but I will merge this for now

Everything passes apart from some tests that were failing before. I will merge now.
