feeder cell def: a layer of cells that are unable to divide, which provides extracellular secretions to help only one cell type to proliferate.

Note: They differs from a coculture system because only one cell type is capable to proliferate

Alt: A layer of supportive cells that are irradiated to prevent replication but can still secrete growth enhancing factors for use in co-culture. (NCIT def)

feeder cell role def: a role which inheres in cells and is realized by the process of providing extracellular secretions to help only one cell type to proliferate

The definition seems to imply that a feeder is a cell that is part of layer. Seems odd to call a feeder cell a layer.

Do we need a class 'feeder cell layer'?
