Strategy document
DW pointed that the circulated document is the first draft and are to be further elaborated. Furthermore, a yearly update of the document is required. Can you recognize yourself in this document was one of the important themes in the discussion of the draft.
Who is in the group?
Is it 1. everyone is invited, 2. depends on topics or 3. there is a core group and invited. Until now the group consists of whoever feels to be in the group – everybody is invited.
The groups in education.
The groups role in education was discussed; shall we have a common education, a common group culture. Do we insist on using R, in using DAGs etc.?
How to translate the document into actions
We decided to use Trello to map action plans and milestones. We will put a card on Trello to enhance ownership and to give an overview. We will map out our current projects and both common and individual projects (e.g. Topics: diabetes and complications, life-course or Methods: machine learning, Mendelian randomization)
IT challenges.
Among challenges the IT-structure and support was mentioned and it was stated that we need a statistician at Steno to check codes and do-files. At the moment we try to form teams that contain diverse competences and ensure that we always have someone to double-check files.
AS stated that Steno will hire a statistician but that we need to be very specific on our demands and expectations.
Other challenges.
Among other challenges; the Epi-group needs to do some teambuilding and socializing.
Collaborations.
It was suggested to invite speakers from collaborators to our meetings, and to establish collaborations outside the epi-world. Furthermore, the need for establishing coherence between the epi-group and the clinic was mentioned.
