Zoho Mail: Certain characters are not accepted #6

Device Information

Describe the bug Contacts previously created in Zoho Contacts on desktop can be opened in Android with the Zoho Mail app, but can no longer be saved if the text fields contain any of the following characters:

()&+*"~`|={}\<>

When trying to save the contact (after entering these characters, or if one of these characters has been used before), the message "Enter a valid name" appears.

The impractical thing is that if you are not aware of this error, there is no indication for the user as to what caused the error or in which field the error occurred.

Reply from Zoho by e-mail:

"Yes, by design, all contact fields only allow characters based on specific regex patterns. Certain characters will be considered invalid as per that configuration rule. The error message states which field has the issue. Sometimes, the issue could be due to multiple characters/fields. It cannot be too specific as to which exact character or position of the text, the issue is in. User discretion is required."

If this is the "design" of the software, why was this design not implemented in the iPhone version and on the desktop? I would consider this to be an inconsistency or a bug, which is why it cannot be closed yet.

And apart from that, the error message only ever says "Enter a valid name" or "Enter a valid address", and not precisely in which field the error occurred.

PS: It would be nice if Zoho would actively contribute to this bug tracker publicly.
