How to do open source branding? #7

The SQLSats have some hefty branding requirements from PASS - these can cause real pain for organisers when they want to theme the logo for instance.

I'd like to have a permissive brand that gels with the fact that we're open source.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on developing & maintaining such a brand?

Manage branding through git and mark all images as open source? I believe Git does something like this, as most integration 3rd parties I see have derivitives of Git's logos
