Is there any hope for this project to continue or should we fork it?

This is actually really important to know now. The latest Steam Deck stable update broke Tunneldeck. And Tunneldeck is the only game mode VPN solution there is.

Actually you can turn on the vpn in kde desktop, then switch to the game mode, and it still takes effect (but not that convenient indeed).

IvanKopylov commented 3 months ago

you can replace it manually: just copy and overwrite files in Home/homebrew/plugins/TunnelDeck/ tunneldeck_1.0.3.zip

if it says that there are no rights to overwrite files, then select all the files, Right click -> Properties, Permissions and specify the necessary rights (can write)

Big thanks to @bkohler616 https://github.com/bkohler616/TunnelDeck/releases/tag/BUILD-1.0.3

Thanks for mentioning how to apply 1.0.3.   I was going to mention someone fixed it but you beat me to the punch.   I couldn’t figure out what to do with the source files for 1.0.3, so I just installed the fixed 1.0.1 package.  Worked perfect!

Also huge/big thanks to @bkohler616 - you rule.

I've never been able to switch back to game mode seamlessly, unfortunately. It always requires a restart of my Deck.

Hey there!

I accidentally didn't have the build posted on the release for 1.0.3, but I have that done now.

I should mention that I am not wanting to take away @steve228uk 's work.... But I am wanting to have the working version posted to the store.

I've gone ahead and asked for the decky loader store to migrate over to my new build. https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-plugin-database/pull/619

I don't expect this to happen anytime soon, as they're trying to contact @steve228uk. But hopefully a fixed version will be persisted up to the store soon.

Thanks much for posting the build for 1.0.3.

I did just about everything I could to reach out to the developer - tried Discord, tried Twitter/X, tried here on Github, found an old blog of his and an email attached - and I emailed that email. All dead silence.

I'm concerned that the developer just may not be here anymore.

Edit: You've done good work by taking up the torch and making it function again. We all appreciate you and everything you've done.
