Not loading Safari plug-in's when it's started by WebKit #26

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Safari plug-in
2. Launch WebKit (nighlty) which launch Safari

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Safari plugins don't work when Safari is lanuched by WebKit like in previous
versions of Simbl on
Leopard

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
SIMBL-0.9.7a on 10.6.2

Hi,

I also see this effect. Same versions of both SIMBL and OS X, and Safari 4.0.4.
Opening Safari loads SIMBL and plugins, opening WebKit does not seem to load
anything. Please let me know if there is anything I can check to provide more
helpful
feedback. I did not see anything related in the logs (i.e., console.app). I
only see that
SafariStand does or does not load.

This has to do with the way Webkit launches. The identifier is
org.webkit.nightly.WebKit, not com.apple.Safari.

This was a longstanding bug in SIMBL 0.8.x that has been fixed.

So it's a feature now and not a bug and it is unlikely to be changed? Can the
identifier be changed by hand (in the
plugin or webkit)?

The behavior as implemented is correct.

The plugin may be edited by hand to force loading.
