Hi professor King, do we need to shoot the video at UNC? or it could be somewhere else.
Anything, anywhere.

It says I don't have permissions to see booking wizards. Is anyone else having this issue on connect2?
Matt, this student and a couple of others was added afterthought List was sent. Alexis is sending you a new list now. Sorry for the confusion, Steven

Hi Prof. King,
Are the 360 cameras water-proof? I want to take some outdoor footage tomorrow, but I’m worried about the rain.
Best, Sam

A little Rain is ok but not best for the image. One drop of rain on the lens and the video looks weird because the cloudy spot is amplified.

Just to clarify, partners are not submitting one video, but are each making their own video?
Good to know, thank you! Hopefully the rain lets up soon so I can shoot.

I have recorded some test video on my micro SD card, but when I connect the Gear 360 to my Mac, nothing happens. It isn't showing up in the Gear 360 app or anything. Do I also have to buy a SD card adapter for my computer?
You need to use a card reader. The camera won’t work as a drive (I don’t think)

Hi Prof. King,
Why is footage dramatically shortened once it’s stitched together? Four minutes of shooting is just 30 seconds when stitched, and I’m confused as to why that happens.

Do you have recommendations for other software I can use to cut the footage? Also, is there any way to speed up the stitching?

Here is my video: https://youtu.be/R5Y5Tr-ZEow
I put some comments in the description, I'll copy them here:
There seems to be an artifact shaped like a black trapezoid on one of the lenses. After some research, it appears it stems from the Gear 360 stitching program. I think I'll have to use the windows version rather than the Mac one in the future. I realize this video isn't the most innovative, and I will admit I am dissatisfied with the result. I think I was still thinking too much like a traditional cameraman. I have some other ideas that I will explore in the days to come however, which should give a better result and use the possibilities of 360° video better.
Thank you and best regards,
Louis Torres Tailfer
Funny Video!
I have never seen that before but it does took like a stitching error you you said.
If others have this problem, you can still turn it in that way. Thanks, Steven

When exporting a 2-minute video from Premiere on a MJ-School Mac, how long should I expect that to take? Right now the estimated time remaining is 32 hours.
Here is my video: https://youtu.be/PQly1oM1AKw
To answer the stitching problem mentioned above, I met the same problem when I tried to stitch my videos on Mac and I fixed it by enabling 'Auto correct angle' in the general preferences. Hope it would help!
Wow there were some real problems with this project! I finally got it to export and upload to YouTube, but I wasn't able to fix the weird black mark because the Gear 360 software stopped stitching at 52% for some reason. Also, when editing on Premiere, for some reason I was unable to see the video preview, and it usually wouldn't play. Maybe the MJ Mac I was using was old. Anyway, here is my video: https://youtu.be/oA4l5Z5-wEQ It's a video from the top of my house in Chapel Hill. I made the theme "Carolina: Beautiful Regardless of Weather." It starts with a recording of Charles Kuralt giving his famous "University of the People" speech and is followed by an acoustic rendition of the alma mater, "Hark The Sound." I would've edited myself out of the beginning and maybe added some titles if I'd had more time. Hope y'all enjoy!
Anyone else having stitching issues where the video comes out like this:
Might be a dumb question, but is there anything we are supposed to do to stitch them or just upload them to the Gear 360 mac app?

@jackmolloy I ran into the same issue! You need to restitch the videos in Gear 360, but before you do so, go to Gear 360 -> Preferences -> and check "Auto Correct Angle." Then restitch the videos and re-edit in Premiere Pro. I hope that helps!

Rumors circulate that Town House Apartments, a Chapel Hill staple since before our parents were born, will be knocked down this year. This 360 video series preserves the cruddy old apartments we know and love (to hate).

My hope was to create an immersive experience inviting the user to see what a Young Life club at Chapel Hill High School looks like. Unfortunately the videos took longer to stitch (3.5 hrs each), so I only published one scene from the night. Enjoy!
Early morning, open field. I was unable to stitch in Premiere and ended up using Samsung's ActionDirect Software.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC2KWgQ3_c0&feature=youtu.be
I strapped the camera to the front of my longboard and took a cruise across the campus from the old well, to south road.
So, problem. My video finally finished stitching (my fault for waiting till the last minute last night to try to edit it), but I can't edit it in Premiere. The file only saves as a ".acs" on Gear360, and I've gone through every tab and can't find a way to change this. Premiere, of course, refuses to edit it.
Anyone got a fix for this? Please don't tell me I'll have to redownload 360 and re-stitch the video, I don't think my heart could take it!
Edit: Turns out, you have to hit "produce" and it will export the file as an .mp4. I think I clicked every button except that one. Yikes! Sorry everyone.

I chose to film my 360 video at a State of the Union Bingo Viewing Party at the Raleigh Brewery. I aimed for an angle that would encapsulate both the TV, as well as the attendees' reactions to a much-anticipated candid address (which unfortunately turned out to be more formal and presidential than we thought). I also hoped there would be a ton of old people there (since the event was bingo after all), but it turned out to be a bunch of people in their mid-30s.
I encountered many issues while trying to edit the stitched footage on Premiere. Some of those issues included a black pixel in the middle of the screen, which I resolved by re-importing them with "auto correct angle on." My footage in Premiere also blacked out or said "Media Pending"...which ultimately caused the application to quit.
As a result, I uploaded one video edited on Premiere during the Bingo session. Since I could not import more than one video file without Premiere quitting, I uploaded the stitch video of the Brewery directly from Gear 360 (since the surroundings in the building were sweet).

I tried to tell the story of how a raccoon totaled my car earlier this year but had a lot of trouble with my encoding. First of all, my computer took a few days to encode the entire video, and when I tried to remove the file to use on a different computer it took just as long. Also, the audio file of me explaining how a raccoon totaled my car did not encode and is not included in the youtube link, and the video didn't properly encode as a 360 video either.
I did enjoy this project but at times grew frustrated during the long waits. I will try to encode it one more time to see if I can fix any of these errors.
Here's Julia's and my new video! We added some music, fixed some sound errors, and increased the volume of the voiceover. Hope you enjoy! Best viewed in a dark room with headphones!

For my video I decided to capture what it's like to take a peaceful walk in the woods during the winter in North Carolina.
Here is the edited version of my 360 video:

I added sound effects, graphics, and titles to better explain how the Bingo game was set up. Before I arrived at the brewery for the viewing party, I was unsure of how the Bingo game would work, so given my own confusion, I added context to make this more clear.
The Bingo card featured an array of Trumpism remarks. For every remark Trump expressed in his speech, the space earned a chip. The first person to get 5 chips in a row won. Think of it as a drinking game but with an added layer. Unfortunately, the more interesting and controversial topics, like fake news or Colin Kapernick, were not addressed, so my video is not as exciting as I envisioned it.
So I re-filmed a video in my fishtank and it came out slightly better this time: https://youtu.be/egmhjQBsMFk
Also, I attached a couple pictures I took so you guys could see exactly what I did. You can tell how curious my fish is about the camera, which is pretty cute. :)
