What version of Java are you running?
Transparency works for me on Windows XP with Java 6 update 10 (JRE build
1.6.0_10-rc-b28).

You can get exact version by typing this into a dos/command window:
java -version

I tried WidgetFX with both Java 6u10 and an older version (update 7, if I
remember),
and, yes, transparency works only with 6u10. Just try to upgrade.

Yes, transparency only works for u10 and later, which is the primary reason its
required for WidgetFX.
