Hi, here is PR on setup connection timeout.

We have created a newer maintained fork of this project at https://github.com/jira-node/node-jira-client on github and https://www.npmjs.com/package/jira-client on npm. I just pushed up PR jira-node/node-jira-client#15 which should address this concern. Please check it out and let us know if it works for you.
